The state and federal clean energy landscape is evolving and at a record pace. Newer and cleaner technologies are being deployed at scale and government is accelerating industry growth through supportive policies and billions of dollars in investment designed to reduce greenhouse gases and other pollution while cultivating a domestic clean energy economy that creates good paying jobs. Together with business and industry leaders, representatives from across Governor Cooper's Administration will collaborate to begin sketching out a cohesive workforce development strategy to underpin for North Carolina's transition to a clean energy economy.

Hosted by E2 and the Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy
This session, co-presented by Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) and E2, will explore job creation opportunities, the economic investment and impact ahead for offshore wind development in North Carolina. From the actual development off the coast to the ports to the fishing industry to the manufacturing of components across the state, industry leaders will discuss the economic and environmental considerations of North Carolina offshore wind.

Track 1: Generation: State Level Generation Planning (Carbon Plan, IRPs, and Utility Commissions in the Region)
In this panel conversation, we'll cover the latest with North Carolina's Carbon Plan proceeding, along with how it intersects with NC's Integrated Resource Planning process. Further, we'll explore how NC's generation planning compares to other planning processes taking place at Public Service Commission's across the southeast.
Track 2: Consumption: Building Codes and the Path to Whole Home Electrification
In this session, we'll cover the current status of NC's building codes, along with various pieces of legislation that have arisen over the past few years related to the residential/commercial building markets. Furthermore, we'll talk about how some of the Inflation Reduction Act funding is intended to further accelerate whole home electrification efforts.

Additional transmission is greatly needed as the state and region continue to grow and diverse the generation mix. This panel will discuss some of the current transmission constraints, along with recent efforts to address them, and the policies/investments needed to build the grid necessary to reach our carbon reduction goals.
Track 2: Consumption: The State of NC’s Rooftop Solar Market
In this session, we'll cover the current state of North Carolina's ever-evolving rooftop solar market. In particular, we'll cover net metering, HOAs, and the impact of recent federal legislation.

Track 1: Generation: The Economics of Future Grid Generation
In this session, our panelists will cover the most cost-effective pathways to achieving future carbon reduction. We'll compare the economics of various generation technologies such as wind and solar with hydrogen and small nuclear reactors. Furthermore, we'll talk about the incentives of different ownership models necessary to reaching that future - including IPP vs. utility ownership and investments made via federal legislation.
Track 2: Consumption: Large Customer Clean Energy Programs
Back in 2017, HB589 introduced the Green Source Advantage program to much fanfare, which has experienced its fair share of challenges. While corporations do have the ability to install behind the meter systems, the availability of programs to reach ESG goals is minimal in NC. On this panel, we'll talk about successful programs from other states, while highlighting the latest efforts to roll out additional large customer programs in NC.

On this panel, we'll cover the latest on various market restructuring efforts throughout the Southeast, including SEEM and the market study legislative committee in South Carolina. We'll also compare and contrast renewable deployment between places like PJM Dominion territory and vertically integrated IOU territory in NC.
Track 2: Consumption: Decarbonizing the Transportation Sector
We've seen state and federal administrations roll out ambitious electric vehicle targets to address the fact that transportation is now the nation's highest carbon-emitting sector. With the expansion of electric vehicles comes the need to deploy residential, public, workplace, and fleet charging infrastructure. In this panel, we'll dive into the charging infrastructure challenges, and opportunities the state, utilities, and the private sector face to meet market demand while ensuring all consumers have equitable access to electric vehicles' economic, public health, and environmental benefits.

Track 1: Generation: Financing the Clean Energy Transition
On this panel, we'll talk about the investments being made to deploy large-scale clean energy from traditional institutions to early market investors. Further, we'll highlight the scale of investment needed to achieve the state and country's carbon reduction goals. Lastly, we'll cover how private investments are being made across both rural and urban counties/regions throughout the country.
Track 2: Consumption: Residential/Consumer Clean Energy and Demand Response Programs
In this session, we'll highlight successful residential focused clean energy programs across the region, including community solar and other REC programs. We'll also talk about the programs already implemented in North Carolina, and what additional programs would suit this market well.
